How do you sell management on the idea of social media? How do you address privacy and crisis communications concerns on the net? What are the best practices of healthcare organizations using social media? How has it helped these organizations achieve their business goals and improve their management styles?

These questions, and many others, were answered by social media pundit, author and consultant Shel Holtz, who came to Louisville to conduct a one-day workshop for communicators. Vest underwrote his speaker's fees and travel expenses for the club, which allowed them to bring the speaker in before all the attendees fees were paid. The conference was attended by over 40 local communications professionals, and was held at the Marriott Hotel downtown.

"It's not often that a local club can afford to bring in someone of Shel Holtz's stature to Louisville," said Candace Green, assistant account executive at Vest and current president of the Louisville Direct Marketing Association. Vest truly made an extraordinary gift to the chapter with their financial support. The reward for all of us, of course, was hearing Shel speak. "He gave everyone in the audience a terrific overview of what's happening in healthcare communication, with lots of anecdotes and case studies many of us had never seen before. We learned a lot," she said.
