"If you want to be successful in business, you have to know a lot of stuff," said Idea Festival founder Kris Kimmel.

It's on this one simple idea that the Idea Festival was founded. Today, the Idea Festival is a three-day annual event in Louisville that draws thousands of people from dozens of countries to hear the latest theories of some of the world's most fascinating scientists, authors, artists, academics, social activists, inventors, entertainers and provocateurs. Like a "Sundance Film Festival for ideas," the Idea Festival is unique because it brings diverse thinkers on different topics together. Those who attend make the connections between ideas that will help them foster understanding and innovation in their own lives.

2009 was the second year Vest has been directly involved in sponsoring the festival, sending crews to the show to interview attendees, speakers, sponsors and organizers of the event. The short interviews were edited down and downloaded on Idea Festival’s internationally popular website, helping even those who couldn’t attend get a flavor of the festival as it was happening. All Vest’s services were provided to the festival pro-bono.

Interviews were conducted by Susan Gosselin, Vest director of public relations, then shot and edited by Vest director of digital media Matt Ooley, with assistance from Vest graphic designer Caitlin Elliot.

"It's a privilege to be involved with the Idea Festival. It's one of the most exciting events Louisville hosts all year," said Gosselin. "We learn a lot talking to all the speakers. In exchange for our help, the Idea Festival gave us all access passes that allowed our employees to come see anything they wanted all week and participate in all their parties. It’s a great opportunity to show off what we can do and expand our minds while we do it," she added.
