Demonstrating Reliability

Monday, September 28th, 2009

By Katie Earley, Copywriter

I’m in love with this new Toyota commercial. This ad is simple and uses subtle humor to cleverly make its point. The fact that there is an adorable child in this ad doesn’t hurt either. But most of all, it shows the practical application of the vague, frequently-used term: reliability.

I touched his hand! I touched his hand!

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

By Susan Gosselin, Vest Director of PR

Most people who know me, know I like to get wound up about the things I am passionate about.  Good musical performances are one of these things for me.  So it’s no mystery why I was so excited to interview one of the most profound music prodigies in modern memory—10 year old Mark Yu.  He speaks five languages, is a professional concert pianist, performs advanced math, and plays cello.  He gave an astonishing performance that brought the house down at the Idea Festival.

Roosegaarde Brings Louisville a Look at the Future of Art

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

by Susan Gosselin, Vest Director of PR

As part of our sponsorship of the Idea Festival this week, we had the opportunity to  do a video interview with Daan Roosegaarde, one of a new group of progressive artists from Rotterdam in the Netherlands.  He had some amazing things to show us about interactive art in public places, both in his presentation, and in a temporary installation of “Dune,” an interactive light sculpture in the construction area for Museum Plaza (Main Street sidewalk, between 6th & 7th) in downtown Louisville.

The Viability of Paper

Friday, September 25th, 2009

By Katie Earley, Copywriter

I skipped out of the office for a bit Wednesday to check out the Idea Festival. We’re in-kind sponsors so I had an all-access pass at my disposal. I decided to go to the panel entitled, “Considering the Book: Taking a New Look at an Old Tool” (Are you surprised? Have I squeezed in enough book references on this blog yet?) and it was absolutely brilliant.

YouTube Preview Image

By Matt Ooley, Director of Multimedia Marketing

Following suit with IdeaFestival 2008, Vest Advertising is live videoblogging the event again this year.

The guests are even more interesting and diverse this year, including everyone from physicists to chefs to filmmakers. The highlight of IdeaFestival 2009 for me is the appearance of best-selling author, renegade chef, and host of the Travel Channel’s “No Reservations” – Mr. Anthony Bourdain. I love this guy and hope we have a chance to get him in an interview.

Check our YouTube page for video updates. I’ll be posting video interviews with presenters and participants as the sluggish-at-best internet connection allows.

I Will Click on Anything with a Rodent

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

It takes a special ad to draw my attention away from why I came to YouTube in the first place (Likely a desire to watch a kitten eat.) and click on it. But as YouTube often reminds me, I love anything with fuzzy animals (no matter how vicious), especially these ads for Las Vegas. Happy Chinchilli Day!

Font Wars and Font Fun

Monday, September 14th, 2009

By Katie Earley, Copywriter

The Ikea Font War of 2009 isn’t necessarily new news, but in the spirit of honest, open font debate and other font-astic things, I wanted to direct everyone’s attention to The Copywriter Underground. Last Friday’s post provided some humorous font videos and a so-difficult-I-gave-up-somewhere-in-the-middle font quiz.
